Meet the Team

Dr. Anna McKinney proudly continues the legacy of exceptional eye care established by Dr. Charlene Haynes, who served the community with distinction for many years before retiring in December 2024.

Today, Dr. McKinney carries that tradition forward—combining advanced technology, personalized care, and a concierge-style patient experience that places comfort, trust, and long-term eye health at the center of every visit.

Dr. Anna McKinney

A Texas Hill Country native, Dr. McKinney grew up in Fredericksburg, Texas. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Biology with a Minor in Business from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, then went on to receive her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry, graduating cum laude.

During her final year, she completed extensive clinical internships focused on diagnosing and managing ocular diseases such as chronic dry eye, keratoconus, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and macular degeneration. She is committed to providing thorough, comprehensive care using advanced diagnostic technology.

Dr. McKinney also has a special interest in pediatric vision care and myopia management. Having experienced severe nearsightedness herself, she is passionate about educating parents on treatment options that help slow myopia progression and protect long-term vision.

While in Houston, she met her husband, Josh, a San Antonio native. Together they are raising their two sons, Rhodes and Quinn. Outside the office, she enjoys traveling with her family and cheering on the TCU Horned Frogs.

Dr. McKinney is honored to serve the San Antonio community and is dedicated to continuing the practice’s tradition of thoughtful, personalized eye care.

Advanced Optical Technology & Premium Lenses

Exceptional vision starts with precise eye care and continues with the right lenses for your needs. We offer premium lens technologies designed to provide sharper vision, greater comfort, and an enhanced everyday visual experience.

Our lens options include trusted technologies and brands such as Crizal®, Varilux®, Shamir®, and Avulux®, with solutions designed to address everything from glare and digital eye strain to everyday visual clarity.

Combined with advanced diagnostic and optical technology, we help you find the right lens solution for how you see – and how you live.

Pre & Post Operative
Eye Surgery Care

Whether you’re considering LASIK, cataract surgery, or another procedure, careful evaluation before and after surgery is an important part of achieving the best possible outcome.

We work closely with your surgeon to provide coordinated care throughout the surgical process – from determining candidacy and completing pre-operative evaluations to monitoring healing and vision following surgery.

Our goal is to support a smooth recovery while helping maintain your long-term eye health.

Ocular Disease Management

Many eye diseases can develop gradually without noticeable symptoms. Routine comprehensive eye exams allow us to detect changes early and monitor your eye health over time. We provide ongoing evaluation and management for conditions such as:

  • Glaucoma
  • Cataracts
  • Macular degeneration
  • Diabetic retinopathy
  • Chronic Dry Eye Syndrome
  • Thyroid Eye Disease
  • Sjogren Syndrome
  • Strabismus
  • Hypertensive Retinopathy
  • Other ocular health conditions

Early detection, regular monitoring, and appropriate treatment can help protect your vision and maintain your quality of life.

Soft & Specialty Contact Lenses

Every pair of eyes is different. That’s why we offer a wide range of contact lens options, from convenient daily disposable lenses to advanced specialty designs.

Our personalized contact lens fittings are designed to provide clear, comfortable vision for your eyes and lifestyle – even when traditional contact lenses aren’t the right fit.

Contact lens options include:

  • Soft and disposable contact lenses
  • Rigid gas-permeable (RGP) lenses
  • Scleral lenses
  • Limbal-fit lenses
  • Hybrid lenses
  • Specialty lenses for astigmatism, dry eye, keratoconus, and other unique vision needs
Pediatric Eye Exams & Myopia Control

Healthy vision is an important part of your child’s learning, development, and everyday life. Comprehensive pediatric eye exams help identify vision problems early, including refractive errors, eye coordination issues, and myopia (nearsightedness).

Because childhood myopia can progress as children grow, early intervention is important. We offer personalized myopia management options designed to help slow progression and support your child’s long-term eye health.

Myopia management may include:

  • Orthokeratology (Ortho-K)
  • Low-dose atropine eye drops
  • Multifocal contact lenses
  • Ongoing monitoring and personalized treatment plans
Comprehensive Eye Exams

A comprehensive eye exam goes beyond checking whether you can see clearly. It provides a detailed evaluation of your vision, eye health, and how your eyes function together.

Using advanced diagnostic technology, we evaluate:

  • Visual acuity and prescription
  • Eye coordination and focusing
  • Internal and external eye structures
  • Eye pressure
  • Overall ocular health
  • Early signs of eye disease

We also review your medical and ocular history to create a complete picture of your vision and eye health.
