Meet the Team
Dr. Anna McKinney proudly continues the legacy of exceptional eye care established by Dr. Charlene Haynes, who served the community with distinction for many years before retiring in December 2024.
Today, Dr. McKinney carries that tradition forward—combining advanced technology, personalized care, and a concierge-style patient experience that places comfort, trust, and long-term eye health at the center of every visit.
Dr. Anna McKinney
A Texas Hill Country native, Dr. McKinney grew up in Fredericksburg, Texas. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Biology with a Minor in Business from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, then went on to receive her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry, graduating cum laude.
During her final year, she completed extensive clinical internships focused on diagnosing and managing ocular diseases such as chronic dry eye, keratoconus, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and macular degeneration. She is committed to providing thorough, comprehensive care using advanced diagnostic technology.
Dr. McKinney also has a special interest in pediatric vision care and myopia management. Having experienced severe nearsightedness herself, she is passionate about educating parents on treatment options that help slow myopia progression and protect long-term vision.
While in Houston, she met her husband, Josh, a San Antonio native. Together they are raising their two sons, Rhodes and Quinn. Outside the office, she enjoys traveling with her family and cheering on the TCU Horned Frogs.
Dr. McKinney is honored to serve the San Antonio community and is dedicated to continuing the practice’s tradition of thoughtful, personalized eye care.

Jackie
Having helped establish the practice from the very beginning, our office manager Jackie keeps our practice running smoothly. Besides ensuring the prioritization of patient care, she uses her love of art and design to influence her decision when hand selecting frames for the Eye Studio. She received her BFA in Foreign Language from UTSA, making her Spanish-speaking abilities a wonderful asset to our team.
Laurel
After being a longtime patient, Laurel easily transitioned to becoming a valued member of our team as an Optometric Technician and expert Contact Lens Coordinator. She received her BS from Texas Tech in Education, helping her to connect with patients and teaching them about eye care.
Jessica
With a strong background in communication and customer service, San Antonio native Jessica became a valued member of our practice in 2023. As an Optometric Technician, she ensures each patient feels comfortable, informed, and well taken care of during their exams.
Liz
Originally from California, Liz joined our practice in 2025 as an Optical Lab Technician. Her cheerful demeanor, ability to fluently communicate in both English and Spanish, plus her eagerness to learn have all been great attributes for the office.
Avery
The newest addition to our team, Avery, recently moved back to the area after spending a decade in Austin. With her background in high-end retail and client services, she loves putting our patient’s needs first when working as an Optician in the Eye Studio.
